HCM was contracted to install 16 micropiles for the RCMP Vehicle Screening Facility at Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The 286mm (12 ¾”) diameter micropiles were designed to resist large blast loads using double permanent casing along with 75 mm diameter bars socketed up to 6.7 m (22’) into bedrock. Prior to installing production piles a sacrificial tension load test was performed to 2200 kN to prove the capacity of the rock socket.

Working together with the GC, HCM crews overcame the challenges of working within close proximity to the existing RCMP building and the surrounding buried utilities while achieving daily productions.
